Joshua's Euro Trip Part 1

Last month, DCI Territory Manager Joshua Spray traveled to Denmark for a three-day training tour that offered a deep look into one of Europe’s most progressive HDD markets.

With packed sessions, passionate dealers, and data-hungry crews, the trip provided valuable insight—not just into how DCI products are being used, but where they can go next.

Day One: Vermeer Danmark, Greve Location
Joshua kicked off the trip with a large-scale training event at Vermeer Danmark’s flagship location that drew 50 customers from across the Copenhagen region. Hosted by dealer groups with support from Pro Action, Cetco, and Vermeer Factory, the event showcased new and upcoming innovations—including the new D24x40 S3 and a prototype of the D20x22 electric drill.

Structured in a round-robin format, the event featured about five technical presentations per group, plus private breakout sessions for hands-on support. One thing was clear from the start: the audience came eager to hear from DCI. “They wanted to see our tech, hear our insights, and push into deeper territory with planning and logging,” Joshua noted.

Day Two: Vermeer Danmark, Torring Location
The second day’s trainings were held at a separate satellite location in Torring and saw even more attendance, with over 60 customers cycling through presentations and discussions. Again, the round-robin structure allowed for small group connections, while side conversations helped address specific challenges and questions. A strong focus emerged around bore planning and data logging, especially as Danish crews prioritize precision, as-builts, and long-term utility tracking.

Day Three: In the Trenches
Joshua wrapped up the trip with a private training at the Jacob Post HDD shop. Though this smaller session was the most challenging—due in part to fewer English speakers—it provided deeper technical exchange. Voice worn thin from three straight days of speaking, Joshua kept things interactive: “Instead of lecturing on what I think is important, I let the customers choose what they think is most important so that they get maximum value from the training. That approach went a long way.”

Uniquely Danish Challenges

As a global company, we’re constantly learning how regional nuances impact HDD operations—and Denmark brought a unique one to light. While on-site, several drillers reported interference when working near robotic lawn mowers and electric vehicles, both of which are becoming increasingly common across the country. It’s a challenge we’re taking seriously. We’ll be exploring how DCI equipment can adapt to perform even better around these types of interference—part of our ongoing commitment to building tools that work reliably anywhere in the world and advancing global infrastructure.

Takeaway
This trip underscored just how sharp and technically advanced European HDD crews are. From detailed data workflows to future-focused gear requests, the Danish market is dialed in. For DCI, that means meeting them at their level—and staying one step ahead.
