Software Development Engineer in Test

The Engineering Department is currently recruiting a full-time Software Development Engineer in Test.

This individual will be an intricate part of the development process, working and coding side by side with architects and software design engineers through the entire product lifecycle. The SDETs will write as much (or more) code as our product developers. SDET designs are as complex and challenging as product designs. Automation code is held to the same quality bar as product code. SDET's peers are software developers and they work as a team to get our products delivered on schedule and with high quality.

We are looking for an experienced SDET to help us expand a high performing team that produces best-in-class locating equipment for the horizontal directional drilling industry. We are seeking quality-minded individuals with “can do” attitudes to be part of our team You'll work with developers to drive all test related aspects of new feature development, applications and capabilities in the products.

As an SDET you will design and write automation software, design and deploy a complex test lab and work with stakeholders to improve the quality of our products. In addition, you'll drive testability and quality into our architectures and designs, deploy our beta products, and establish and enforce engineering standards across the organization.

  • 5+ years industry test and coding experience with demonstrated feature ownership throughout the complete product lifecycle (test collateral including test plans/specifications, test cases, automation, simulator / test harness development).
  • 5+ years experience in very strong C/C++ coding and debugging.
  • BS or equivalent certification in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Ability to multi-task and work through ambiguity and rapid change.
  • Experience with embedded systems, device drivers, networking, hardware preferred.
  • Experience with LabView programming a plus.

Inventory Clerk

The Manufacturing Department at our Kent office is currently recruiting a full-time Inventory Clerk.

The Inventory Clerk will ensure timely processing of goods and properly verify, store and issue electronic and mechanical parts and sub-assemblies. Candidate will perform a variety of tasks aimed at supporting the movement of components for manufacturing within a warehouse and to production locations. He or she, will help with line-picking activities and be required to verify materials or merchandise against receiving documents; note or report discrepancies and obvious damages; and update/maintain an electronic database (Macola ES) with details components, part numbers, serial numbers, quantities, and locations. Candidate will also be responsible for routing materials to prescribed storage locations and storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods. They will perform cycle counting on a daily basis and continually monitor physical inventory and ensure that actual stock status matches recorded inventory.

Individual must have 5 years related experience and/or equivalent. They must be detail-oriented, well-organized and a self-starter with the ability to work in a dynamic environment and capable of performing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills and computer literacy and good math skills required. Must also be a team player who can work well under pressure be able to interface with a variety of individuals. Familiarity with a computer-based inventory and bar coding system for entry, identification and tracking of material is a plus. Experience within a manufacturing environment and knowledge of MRP preferred.

Quality Engineer

The Quality Department is currently recruiting a full-time Quality Engineer.

Successful applicant will be able to:

  • Acquire and analyze data using appropriate standard quantitative methods across a spectrum of business environments to facilitate process analysis and improvements.
  • Have a thorough understanding of problem-solving and quality improvement tools and techniques. This includes knowledge of management and planning tools, quality tools, preventive and corrective actions, and how to overcome barriers to quality improvements.
  • Develop and implement quality programs, including tracking, analyzing, reporting and problem solving and be able to integrate these with continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Have a fundamental understanding of quality philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, team dynamics, customer expectations, interpersonal relationships and professional ethics.
  • Have a strong understanding of statistics, ability to gather necessary data, be able to analyze using appropriate tools and communicate effectively the results to engineering.
  • Use data in statistics to estimate population characteristics from small or large sample groups, analyze data that does not fit into a particular probability distribution pattern, determine the strength and the direction of relationships between two variables and prevent misuse and misinterpretation of business process data.

This person will be an integral part of the Quality Team whose primary responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating efforts to create new product requirement documents.
  • New product prototype testing and tracking of baseline performance.
  • Working with engineering and R&D in identifying, tracking and resolving issues for both mechanical and software performance.
  • Periodic field testing of prototype equipment or systems.
  • Product performance reporting and failure trend analysis.
  • Root Cause and Corrective Action investigating.
  • Testing and Inspection of finished goods, in-process, receipt and out of box failures.
  • MRB Support (technical/administrative).
  • Calibration and First article inspection (FAI).

Qualified applicant must have 5+ years direct Quality Engineering experience, ASQ certification or Technical degree (CQE), strong understanding of common Quality methodologies (SPC, Six Sigma, ISO, PDCA, Total Quality, GD&T and Lean tools) and the ability to multi-task in an ever changing environment with excellent communication skills. Proficient in Windows applications, MS Word Excel required and AutoCad and Solidworks a plus. An electronics background preferred.
